Welcome to my blog! I wanted to start blogging with a short post explaining the inspiration that brought me here and what I hope to accomplish with blogging.
Why I started Blogging
People ask me all the time, “How do you have time for this?”, “How do you get yourself to do that?”, “How did you afford to go there?”, etc. The answer is: because I want to. My life doesn’t make sense. Does anyones? A lot of things I do goes without rhyme or reason to most people but it makes sense to me. Isn’t that how it should be? It is so easy to get lost in what you should or shouldn’t do that it prevents you from doing what you really want to do. For me, it was the fact that you “should” get a corporate office job after you graduate college and work a 9-5 for the rest of your life. I knew it wasn’t what I wanted but figured I “should” try anyway because I didn’t really know exactly what I wanted to do. When I finally did try, it didn’t last long. However, I quickly found out what I wanted. Even though the “should” wasn’t for me, it inspired me to move towards something that was.
I know taking that jump from something that is comfortable and safe to something unknown isn’t easy and could be the very reason you don’t. Trust me, I spent the first sixteen years of my life as a gymnast. My love and passion for the sport faded over time until it became restricting to exploring my life in any other direction. I was stuck, committed to the same routine that I hated because I thought that’s what I was supposed to do. It was comfortable. If i didn’t do that then what else would I do? If I wasn’t a gymnast, who was I? So… I get it.
How I Started Blogging
When I finally made that uncomfortable and extremely scary jump, that’s when I realized I can do literally anything. There is so much in the world. I don’t need validation from everyone around me if it is going to make me happy. If it’s going to be a mistake, well then at least I learned what doesn’t work and can continue on the path of finding what does and will continue to make me happy.
It still blows my mind that I didn’t realize that for so long. You can do anything you set your mind to. It is so cheesy but so true. I haven’t even touched the surface of what that means to me in my life yet but I know that it motivates me every morning knowing that I will get there, wherever that may be.
I used to think successful people were lucky, that they were magically picked by some predetermined source to be in the position they are in. Once I started to do research and hear their stories, I realized that wasn’t the case. They worked hard to be where they are. They pushed for it because that’s what they wanted from their life. There is no crazy secret or special gift. The secret is desire, passion, and drive toward your goals. It is a wild thought, I know, this thought would have totally terrified me a few years ago because I didn’t even know what my goals were or if they would be “big enough” to even work towards or have this amazing outcome. The truth is though, it doesn’t matter. No matter how big or small it may be, if it’s important to you it will lead you where you need to go and the outcome will continue to drive you. As intimidating as it might be, it will be worth it.
With that being said, blogging has been something I have been wanting to do for a few months so that’s why I am here. I believe I write better than I talk. I feel like I have a lot of thoughts and stories that I have been wanting to share and it has become more important to me to do so and I needed an outlet. So welcome to my outlet. Thank you for being here, I hope you enjoy 🙂
The Name of the Blog
When trying to come up with a name, I spent hours brainstorming and couldn’t find one that resonated with me. I wanted something original and significant to me but still captured the overall vibe of my content. One afternoon, I was looking through old cards from friends and family over the years and found one from my job in college that I later moved back for. Inside, my boss who I fondly adored, wrote, “You are a natural catalyst of peace and joy.” That sentence really stuck with me and the next morning I woke up knowing that I needed to incorporate that into my life. I looked up the definition and knew it was perfect for what i’m trying to achieve with blogging. The definition of a catalyst is: a person or thing that precipitates an event or change. I want to create a movement to do, to start, to conquer, in my own life, in your life, in the people around me lives through stories, lessons, adventures, etc.
The Goal of Blogging
My goal for blogging is to have fun, get creative and share. Share things that are important to me, things that I have done, places that I go, things people might be able to relate to, things that I eat, anything. It truly is going to serve as an outlet, open to anyone who might be interested! Thank you for being here!
